Update : Summer 2009

New look on the way

We're still working on that re-design folks! Thanks for your patience. Everything else is status quo around these parts, trying to bring you some of the best record and concert reviews on the net, as well as some great interviews and articles on the important bands of the day.

Don't forget about our great columns, too! Hopefully a couple more soon, as well as some new ways to get more news on new music.

Send Any Material For Review Consideration Directly To:

hybridmagazine.com
P.O. Box 9250
Denver, CO. 80209

We're always looking for new writers. If you're passionate about music, film or counter culture and would like to join the hybrid army, send us an email.

Submission Guidelines:

At this time we ONLY accept submissions on Compact Disc... and sometimes vinyl. Please don't send us links to your myspace page or digital files, we just don't have the resources to check them all out.

Feel free to send any review materials to the address above. Be advised however, we receive a ton of records for consideration each month and believe it or not, someone listens to every last one. If you've read through our reviews, hopefully it's become apparent that we live with every record we review for a while befiore committing anything to print.

This is precisely what separates hybrid from other publications. As opposed to giving your record the customary once-over treatment, we'll give it a thorough listening and the opportunity for it to grow on us, if at first we don't like it. We feel it's a bit disengenious to both the artists and our readers not to do so. Some music is just like that; sometimes it takes time to unfold the layers to fully appreciate the artistry in the recordings.

Keep in mind though, while we listen to every record we receive, we do not review everything. If your record is selected for review, our reviews editor will send you the respective link when the review posts. While you may feel inclined to send us follow-up notes regarding your packages, it's really not necessary. If the music is good (we know, your music is good) it will hopefully get reviewed. If we find it absolutely abhorrent, be assured, we'll say that too.

hybrid is the result of years and years of disillusionment with tepid journalism and dealing with the "content" business. It's comprised of a core staff of amazing contributors who've been involved in all segments of the media and music industry for years. It's a digital publication for music lovers, without the pretension and grab-assing that usually accompanies the complicated genre of music collectively known as Indie rock. Our intent is to cover artists who are passionate about their music and possess undying integrity in their art. The bottom line: we're passionate about music and it's of no consequence to us what label you're on--or if you're even on a label at all. Some of the most innovative and interesting music we've received has been self-released. We also possess an insatiable desire to discover music that make us feel alive.

Suffice to say, either way, you can expect that we'll be objective and honest in all of our reviews. Count on it.
