Moonshine seems to be directing much of its attention to
the mix CD market, focusing on different sub genres of club
music. One of their Trance mix contributors, Austin-based
DJ, D:Fuse was busy spinning all over Texas and received his
break during the 1998 Moonshine Over America tour when he
dropped a tape to Moonshine President, Steve Levy. Shortly
thereafter Moonshine relaunched the Psycotrance mix series
featuring D:Fuse on the decks and his DJ career was pushed
along, joining Paul Oakenfold on his North American tour and
completing his third mix CD for Moonshine.
The twelve tracks on the album including tunes from D:Fuse
himself, are strong Trance and breaks numbers. Each are ideal
club tracks, the production is hypnotic, unrelentless like
it should be and D:Fuse builds a tight and fluid set that
peaks furiously during the ballistic "Dutch Drum Attack"
by E Craig. The mix was inspired by D:Fuse's residency at
San Francisco's Release club and he has obviously been influenced
by both Oakenfold and Carl Cox during his tours with them.
The popularity of Trance seems to be at an all time high stateside.
So D:Fuse's mixing talent, demonstrated here, is obviously
going to be in big demand over the next few years and you
can expect to hear a lot more from and about him in the future.
