Created during the drum & bass prime of 1993, the Trouble
on Vinyl label, started by Mark Hill and Clayton Hines has
been responsible for a slew of heavy hitting releases and
the start of two other labels, Renegade and Renegade Hardware.
While the genre has fallen under much criticism for it's lack
of innovation in recent times, the label has been hauling
at tremendous speeds through all of it and is working hard
to push the sound into new territory. If you're one of these
critics, you may not find Champions Soundz to be tremendously
innovative but excellent regardless. Besides don't be so ignorant,
the differences in techno and various other electronic styles
are so subtle and a good look at the whole picture will reveal
that all of this music is so far ahead of the rest of the
music scenes in existence. So relax and absorb the heavy tunes
being dropped on this disc. From jazz, distorted bass-lines,
kung-fu samples, marimba sounds, gansta humor and tracks crazier
than Dennis Hopper, it is all the fine details that make this
scene and Trouble on Vinyl something to stay hyped about.
