In the absence of any new material since 2001's Reincarnation
Of Luna, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult have opted
to release a handful of remix projects, a live album and a 'Best
Of' collection much to the chagrin of their cult following. 2004
is no exception as Rykodisc re-releases three of TTK's early discs
- I See Good Spirits I See Bad Spirits, Confessions
of the Knife, and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult {Bonus
Tracks}. While the two full-length albums have extra tracks,
they are remixes and live performances of tunes found on the same
disc. My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult {Bonus Tracks}
brings together 1990's Kooler The Jesus EP with some elusive
singles - "Cuz It's Hot" and the 12-inch version of
"A Daisy Chain 4 Satan" - and a couple of previously
unreleased songs. The remastering of "Kooler" sheds
new light on the intricate details lost on the murky WaxTrax!
version. However, the additional material tacked on the end doesn't
stay true to the dark satanic ambience of the rest of the collection.
There are two cuts recorded for the Showgirls soundtrack
and a remix of "Leathersex", which represent the bands'
later campy disco period. Still, for the money, this is a smart
set of three re-issues and will appease the novice listener. However,
hardcore disciples of TTK will still be pleading for a new batch
of sleaze.
