With the same refinement of Caipirinha record’s Caipirissima collection, OM records has reformulated their own compilation of Afro-Brazilian influenced electronic music mixed by DJ Fluid of Afro-Mystik. Rhythmically intense but melodically chill, Future Tropic mixes tracks by such artists as Compost records own Minus 8, a Jazzanova remix of an Azymuth tune, OM’s Soulstice and Afro-Mystik as well as I:Cube, Andy Caldwell, P’taah and Sk Radicals.
Most of the traditional and organic Afro-Brazilian sounds exist within the rhythmic structure of the tracks while the melodies, though still keeping the Brazilian vibe, are created more in the electronic realm which results in material that sounds deliberately produced for a club environment. Even some of Brazil’s more traditional carnival rhythms are re-worked on "Uriel Bridge" by P’taah and DJ Venom. In addition to the wonderful instrumentals, Gina René of Soulstice graces us with her vocal work on the track "Lovely" and Andy Caldwell’s "Quiet Nights." Like Sounds Of OM, their other recent compilation, Future Tropic is a bright, summertime album that brings the uplifting House music instrumentation of Sounds Of Om and replacing the 4/4 kick with the energetic lure of Brazilian cadence.
