I tried so hard to dismiss this album as soon as I heard it,
but man it just won't leave me alone. Once again, I am not supposed
to write full reviews on short albums or ep's but, once again,
Nitromusk comes out of left field with drive and force
that I can't help but take notice and pass on that knowledge.
First I tried to pass them as tongue-in-cheek, too silly to be
worthwhile, then I realized they were too catchy. Finally I dug
deeper, to see that there were way too many good hooks and riffs
to be forgotten. Looking at all the materials associated with
this band, everything seemed to indicate that they weren't serious
about the music - but it is all a façade, there are some
really choice and solid rock songs that pay obeisance to none,
and create their own feel and evolution that entertains with tremendous
energy and vibe.
So I fell in love with this album and desperately want to hear
more of this band, so I have to let you know as well. Every song
is funny, poignant, awesome with its changes and hooks, and completely
saturated with energy. It is so in-your-face lackadaisical it
makes me smile, yet solid enough of rock that I have to sit up
and listen. The harder I tried to dismiss them, the more easily
they won me over with panache and charm.
Find a copy of this album, you won't regret it.
