Not many albums now-a-days make you feel happy-go-lucky after giving
them a listen. Especially in the genre of Alternative, Punk or even
Emo. Instead, there are feelings of anger, rage, or even sadness.
However, after giving the newest release from Echo Screen a
good listen, my outlook on life is a tad more pleasant.
Perhaps that's why they named this album Euphoria, which by
definition means basically being happy or elated. On this CD their
Powerpop-ness shines through with youthful melodies, just right hooks
and lyrics that easily get stuck in your head on repeat. Having collaborated
with great minds like producers John Naclerlo (Senses Fail,
Midtown), Shep Goodman, and Kenny Giola (Punchline,
Head Automatica), you're bound to find a method that works.
And having already made an appearance on Van's Warped Tour in '06,
Echo Screen have already begun their music expedition on the right
path.
When you pop in their CD right away you're hit with their first single
"This Letter Bomb." With a video to accompany, the song
is a great opening. For their second release I'd like to see "Gloria"
or "Rushmore." Two songs bursting with energy and ones I'd
be very interested to see what shows up in their videos. I'm sure
they'll make me happy.
