Somewhere between a mix of Pink Floyd and Radiohead,
Purchase New York makes the most of mood and aura to create
a vapidly mellow ambiance that is worth every minute of influential
vibe.
Lackadaisical vocals mixed with almost random rhythm guitar and drawn
out drum backing, creates a purely euphoric mix, which should not
be listened to in the car while you are tired. Lead guitar is nicely
used in the background, grinding at one moment and superbly subtle
at others, framing an altogether disarming tapestry of material. Songwriting
is as underemphasized as the songs themselves; so is apt for the album.
Production adds interesting minor nuances that draw out the songs
and ultimately make them richer and deeper in essence.
Sweet and low, this is an album to wind down to, as it lulls you
into its folds of beautiful existence.
