Don't let the artsy album cover or the innocent looking faces trick
you, the new Maverick Records band Evaline is only just beginning
their presence on the scene and they've got some excellent music with
them.
This is one of the few albums in which the producer, being from another
band, influenced the sound and it turned out brilliant. Postpartum
Modesty. A Portrait Of Skin is the debut EP for Evaline and was
produced by The Used guitarist Quinn Allman. In the
6 tracks that were chosen for the EP, you can definitely hear some
Used. Not that it's a bad thing, in fact like I said, it's brilliant.
This new group has all the workings of a chart-topper. With strong
guitar, mesmerizing chords and emotion-filled lyrics I see no reason
why we can't catch these guys on Warped Tour in the next year or two.
Though don't expect them to start up any mosh pit, no this music is
the kind that sucks you in and forces you to feel whatever it is they're
trying to say.
Alright, so put them on tour with The Used or Anberlin or
maybe even The All-American Rejects, either way this band is
going to please the crowd. Their EP was just released this summer
and with little information, there is no "hopeful" release
date for the full album. My guess, with Maverick there's a good chance
it will be out by the end of 2006 or early 2007. It'll definitely
be a good Christmas gift, even if it is for myself.
