Programmer/arranger Felix integrates the glam-pop shimmer
of '80s new wave with the dancehall beats of the '70s and the
electro pop glitter of the 2000's on his 3-track EP Things
I Didn't Know I Loved. The music is a three-way marriage between
The Scissor Sisters, Chic, and Hot Chip,
merging digitalized sound effects with streaming sequences.
The title track, featuring vocalist Simian Lord, has a
glam pop glint with surging synth-encrusted flairs bonded by processed
beats. "Toys" is a fusion of electro pop laser lights
and percolating chimes. The final track "More Than Love"
is an arcade of pretzeled sound effects tethered to party pop
beats. The panorama of whirling synths and buoyant beats is fashioned
for dance clubs.
David Guetta is probably best known for this style of
club music/chic pop but Felix imbues a retro atmosphere to his
tracks that is reminiscent of '70s disco. The songs have a flashiness
that utilizes modern music technology to bridge three decades
of synth pop.
