If you thought dream pop was dead, think again. Melting and
bending inspiration from The Hollies, The La's,
The Beach Boys and of course, The Beatles, Delays
create a wash of sound we haven't heard since The Sundays.
Delays are a Brit Pop quartet who rely heavily on luxurious
harmonies that liquefy into a delicious cocktail of sound. Just
below the cascading voices, the band blends strumming acoustic
guitar along side experimental sounds akin to Radiohead's
OK Computer era - however less robotic and more user-friendly.
Greg Gilbert croons his way through each track with his
unusually high falsetto. Lyrically introspective, Delays compose
heartbreaking songs of loves lost and missed opportunities.
Tracks such as "You Wear The Sun" and "Hey Girl"
are pop inclined with a sunny disposition whereas "Bedroom
Scene" and "Stay Where You Are" are haunting
and reflective.
Even though the band wears their influences like a badge of
honor, the Delays' Faded Seaside Glamour stands on its
own merits as highly innovative and extremely fresh.
