Further evidence that press kits are mostly bullshit is presented here. Anyone who claims that even the faintest ghost of Sid Vicious resides within these 12 tracks should turn in their press card. This is nothing more than electro-disco-pop. You can count on one hand the number of times this album could even be classified as "rock", let alone "punk". Okay, I guess there's one whole song that's marginally punk, but that would be their cover of Plastic Bertrand's "Ça Plane Pour Moi",which doesn't count. "Disease Contagious" has some of the elements of '50s rock & roll. I'm grasping here; seriously.

Aside from what their press would try to get me to believe, this album plays like an average house band with a vocalist whose delivery is as mechanical and impassive as HAL 9000. Blondie and the Cardigans, the only two comparable bands to have been tossed into the same ring were occasionally and similarly dispassionate in their delivery, but this one seems particularly lacking in emotion. Don't get me wrong, Anna's voice is beautiful and dreamy, but it's just utterly soulless.

Having stripped away the superfluous and the prevaricous, I'm left with the last track, the DJ Downfall remix of track 9, "Everything 2 Me." Unusual that this is one of those rare instances where a remix supersedes its progenitor; and yeah, I'll say I like it even if it is "just dance music." Anna Soder's vocals are used to great effect in the chorus and the technical intricacy of the beat-melody has a pleasingly progressive complexity. Maybe they just need a decent producer, but I would stick to the disco route. The Swedes have always been masters of it (well, that and death metal) and there seems to be no limit for American voraciousness when it comes to hot Swedish chicks. But really, drop the whole Sex Pistols bit. Anyone who says they buy it is merely thinking with their dick.
