The Sunflower State, otherwise known as Kansas, has brought us
everything from corn, to tornadoes, to buffalo. Very rarely has
a recognizable band called their roots Kansas. But this new group
on the scene is proud to do so and even offer a little "Kansas
techno" (in their live show, that is).
Distance To Empty, born and raised in the wheat fields,
have just released their sophomore album Relaxcitement.
This CD offers both a Progressive Rock beat and a good ole fashion
taste of Rock. Get lost in the mind of a traveler in the songs
"Road To Omaha" and "Tourist". You get a little
bit of synth action in the song "Norman", which oddly
enough tells the story of an android. Of course, you can't have
a good album without a couple of songs primed and ready to go
on the radio: "New Theory" and "George Washington".
Top it all off with an excellent ballad/slow song "Dulcinea".
With this album you can Relax and you can get Excited... either
way you'll enjoy what you hear. Go out and pick up a copy, or
if your curiosity is perked, head over to one of the stops on
their tour and get your first experience of "Kansas techno".
Go ahead, I dare you!
-Rebecca
